Area youth concluded a production of “Annie Kids” at Mahopac Falls School on Aug. 9 and 10, in a collaboration between the Kent and Mahopac public libraries that was not only free for families to participate in – but also free for the community to enjoy.
“Watching our children sing, dance and act on stage in this nurturing environment was truly heartwarming,” said organizers. “The program fosters creativity, allowing all participants to learn the importance of dedication to the written word.”
The journey began with auditions in May, followed by weekly rehearsals starting in June. By July, rehearsals increased to twice a week, culminating in a final tech week in August, when participants brought everything together on stage.
Under the guidance of Director Miss Chris, Assistant Director Miss Dayna, and Production Assistants Miss Leah (also a choreographer) and Mary Grace, the young actors delivered a strong and memorable performance.
Theater is more than just entertainment – it nurtures their imagination, builds confidence, and teaches essential life skills such as teamwork, communication and empathy. As they step into different roles, children learn to understand diverse perspectives, express themselves creatively, and embrace the value of commitment and perseverance.
“These four librarians poured their hearts into ensuring that our children could experience the magic of theater,” said organizers. “We are proud to offer this transformative and vital program to our community, knowing that the skills and memories our children gain will benefit them for years to come.”
