A Good Season for Mahopac Soccer
The powerhouse names in high school boys’ soccer in Section 1 were always schools like Arlington, Rye, and New Rochelle.
Get ready to add another name to that list: Mahopac.
At press time, the Wolf Pac have won six of its first eight games. That includes a 3-0 win over previously unbeaten Lakeland, which made Mahopac 6-1-1. And the only loss on that ledger was a 1-0 decision to Harrison.
Five of those first six victories came by shutout.
Nick Portanova scored two of the three goals in the win over Lakeland. He gave his team some early momentum with a goal just three minutes into the contest.
This shouldn’t be a shock to anyone – it was building. Mahopac won eight more games in 2025 than it did in 2024. It’s been a steady progression, and now the program is on the cusp of joining those aforementioned teams.
