CT Man Hit & Killed on Route 22
A Connecticut man was killed Oct. 20 after he was hit by a vehicle while walking along Route 22 in Patterson.
According to Putnam County Sheriff Brian Hell, deputies were called to the intersection of Route 164 just after 8 p.m., for a car versus pedestrian accident. Upon arrival, first responders found Michael Frick, 35, of New Fairfield, lifeless on the side of the road.
According to news reports, a 911 call brought Patterson firefighters, Patterson Community Ambulance personnel, and an Empress Putnam paramedic to the scene, where a Putnam County coroner pronounced Frick dead.
The driver stayed at the scene of the crash, which is now under investigation by the sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
Frick, a chef at Saltxthyme in Connecticut, was involved in a severe automobile accident Aug. 30 that left him with a collapsed lung, broken ribs, and a fractured sternum. A GoFundMe account that was set up for his family after that crash said Frick had been recovering at Albany Medical Center, with injuries that “have left him facing a long and painful recovery.”
