Drug Charges Land Mahopac Man in Prison

A Mahopac man has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to felony drug charges, again.

According to Putnam County District Attorney Robert Tendy, Omar Miles, 47, was sentenced Aug. 19 to seven years in prison followed by three years post-release supervision after pleading guilty to one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance in June of this year.

Miles was arrested Dec. 22 after a joint investigation conducted by the Carmel Police Department and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit to identified individuals selling cocaine out of a Mahopac residence. Over the course of several months, detectives learned that Miles and a co-defendant (whose charges are still pending) were selling cocaine out of 60 Union Valley Road in Mahopac.

A search warrant executed at the residence Dec. 22 led to the recovery of illegal pills, cocaine, and equipment used to prepare narcotics for sale, according to the district attorney. Miles also had more than one-eighth of an ounce of cocaine on him at the time of this arrest.

“Miles is now an eight-time convicted felon who was last convicted by a Putnam jury in 2018 of multiple felony narcotics charges,” said Tendy. “His parole supervision for that conviction ended Aug. 18, 2025, just months before this arrest.”

He said local law enforcement agencies and prosecutors work around the clock to keep career criminals like Miles off the streets of Putnam County. “This was a well-orchestrated investigation and a strong case that resulted in a negotiated plea and much-deserved lengthy state prison sentence,” said Tendy.

The case was prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Breanne Smith.
