Free Brewster Summer Music Series Returns

Organizers are gearing up for the 2023 free Brewster Summer Music Series.

The third annual Brewster Summer Music Series returns to Southeast Veterans Park in Brewster this summer with a few exciting changes.

This summer, the free seven-week series hosted by the Cultural Arts Coalition will be held Wednesday nights at the gazebo featuring an opening set at 6:30 p.m. The music continues with the headlining band performance ending at 8:30 p.m.

A Country Kitchen will be on-site with a pop-up tent to deliver pre-ordered family “picnics” that will be available for pick-up upon arrival. Families are encouraged to visit countrykitchenbrewster.com and place their order in advance, to be enjoyed on the field with blankets, chairs and coolers.

Produced by a volunteer duo, the 2023 Brewster Summer Music Series is a labor of love that developed from a grassroots effort following the 2020 pandemic, and has come a long way since.

“The 2021 series was a pass-the-hat arrangement with the bands volunteering their time and splitting the donations with the organization,” said Katy Faivre, one of the original organizers. “Our hope now is to provide a place for the community to come together.”

In 2022, local music promoter Jacque Roche was invited to join the committee and contributed her booking and music event experience to introduce the community to a different experience. “I am an enthusiastic supporter of original musicians,” she said. “The music series was an excellent opportunity to introduce the public to a new genre of music.”

For 2023, Faivre and Roche have curated a series they feel covers a variety of genres and that will appeal to live music fans. The music includes original musicians Roche promotes, as well as familiar cover bands that attendees are likely to enjoy performing Americana, country, funk, jazz, Latin, New Orleans style and rock-and-roll.

“We strive to make all our programs touch the varied demographics of our area,” said CAC board member Anita Conway. “To that end, we continue to provide diversified bands as part of the 2023 summer concert series.”
