Heitmann is Haldane’s New Boys’ Soccer Coach

COLD SPRING – There’s a new sheriff in town in Cold Spring, and he has a pretty familiar background.

Ramsey Heitmann has been hired as the new boys’ soccer coach at Haldane High School. He replaces longtime coach Ahmed Dwidar, who won the state championship in 2022 but either resigned or was forced out earlier this spring.

Athletic director Tom Cunningham was on vacation and could not be reached for comment.

Heitmann is certainly familiar with the Blue Devils. Not only did he play for the school, but he graduated from there in 2015. He also played at Division III Purchase College and graduated from there in 2019. Ironically, he was also an assistant coach under Dwidar.

Dwidar, a native of Egypt, definitely landed on his feet. He will be back on the sidelines this fall after accepting the vacant position at New Paltz High School. He will likely only enhance what is already a strong program. The Huguenots won the Section 9, Class C championship last fall.

Practice begins Aug. 24.
