PUTNAM VALLEY – The Putnam Valley High School field hockey team defense was nearly impenetrable against county rival Mahopac. In a defensive-minded game, PV beat the Wolf Pac, 2-1.

’Pac goalie Maddy Bucci needed to make just one save in the game – an impressive performance in its own right – but the Tigers were just flat out frustrating on defense. In fact, goalie Minisha Singh made 12 saves for Putnam Valley.

Ella Heitman and Lia Buerkle each scored for the winners, while Isabella Gangemi got the tally for Mahopac.

In an earlier game last week, Mahopac lost to Rye Neck, 3-2.

Lakeland, 9; Carmel, 0 – Gianna Santini was an offensive machine for the Hornets with three goals and three assists, including the 100th point of her career.

Girls’ Soccer

COLD SPRING – It was a time for celebration.

Aria Edgtton, Taya Robinson, and Mira Timmer all scored for the Blue Devils as Haldane High School shut out Dover, 3-0, in a non-league game.

For freshman Edgtton, it was her first varsity goal – likely the first of many.

Mahopac, 5; Carmel, 0 – What a day for Kayleigh Dolan. She had four goals against her team’s archrival in the victory. Talk about a one-person wrecking crew. And all four goals came in the second half.

Brianna Lofaro registered the other goal for the winners.

Boys’ Soccer

BREWSTER – Brewster High School was practically unstoppable last week. The Bears played three games, winning two and tying one.

Brewster beat Lincoln, 4-2. Aiden Monge and Ashwin Sookram each had two goals to account for the Bears’ scoring. Sookram scored twice in a 3-1 victory over Yonkers Montessori. Teammate Nick Arucuilo also scored.

In between was a 2-2 jaw with Nyack. Sookram also scored in the game.

Haldane, 4; Arlington B, 0 – Mark down a hat trick for Max Kupper. Reese Williams added a goal for the Blue Devils.

Mahopac, 2; Suffern, 1 – Christopher Flanagan and Manny Mejia each scored for Mahopac.
