BREWSTER – Twice as nice.

It was a big week for the Brewster High School girls’ flag football team.

The Bears won a pair of games, including a 21-6 decision over John Jay-Cross River and 38-19 over Somers.

Those two teams were scheduled to meet again this week at Somers.

Cross Country

WEST NYACK — Let’s hear it for Odin Wong.

At the Gold Rush Invitational, the Brewster High School junior won the boys’ 3,000-meter steeplechase event. Wong raised his personal best by 23 seconds.

The meet was held at Clarkstown South High School.

Boys Lacrosse

CARMEL – Two more wins for the Carmel High School boys’ lacrosse team and a standout week for Colin Sullivan. He had a combined 11 goals in wins over Irvington (16-4) and Blind Brook (13-11).

Not to be outdone, teammate David Mahoskey scored eight goals in the two games. That’s a potent 1-2 punch with sectionals on the horizon.

Dom Zaino recorded his 100th career save for the Rams

Brewster 11, Sleepy Hollow 4 – Liam McKenney and A.J. Accurso each tallied a hat trick for the winners while Luke Cunningham and Paul Rienzi both scored twice apiece for the Beara.

Girls Lacrosse

PUTNAM VALLEY – What a game for Isabella Coletti! She nearly outscored Dobbs Ferry by herself in a 21-13 win for Putnam Valley High School girls’ lacrosse. She had 10 goals, and also added two assists for good measure.

Teammate Ella Wendol scored four goals and had nine assists.

Mahopac 14, Brewster 10 – Ashley Koch had five goals, including the 200th of her career and now is Mahopac High School’s second-leading scorer of all time. Teammate Gianna Cirelli scored six times.

For the Bears, Kaitlyn Flanagan and Olivia Saccomanno each scored three goals. Lindsay Smith made nine saves, including the 500th of her career.

Softball

COLD SPRING – The Haldane High School softball team appears to be peaking at the right time. With the Section 1 playoffs on the doorstep, the Blue Devils finished the league season at 6-2, including an 11-4 win over Pawling.

Allegra Clementson notched her seventh win of the year, striking out eight more batters, yielding only four hits, and walking none. Lainey Donaghy, Nora-Jean Cotter, and Clementson all had multi-hit performances. Megan Powell and Christine Junjulas contributed with big RBI hits in the game.

Clementson also recorded 14 strikeouts in an earlier 7-2 win over Rye Neck.

Carmel 9, Brewster 1 – Gabriella Azzaro registered two hits, two runs scored and two RBI in the route for the Rams. Lily Madio picked up the mound win by scattering seven hits and not walking a batter. Emma Mariella and Taylor Slavkin each had two hits for the Bears.
