A Mobile Crisis Outreach Team has been launched in Putnam County by People USA, a peer-run mental health nonprofit known for pioneering innovative crisis response and wellness services.
The team, available Monday through Friday from noon to 8 p.m., provides community-based crisis response and interventions for individuals of any age, ensuring residents have immediate access to compassionate, person-centered mental health support when and where they need it most.
Services are voluntary, free of charge, and accessible to anyone in crisis, with no out-of-pocket cost to the individual. Anyone can call 845-379-2463 to access support.
The team includes a licensed behavioral health clinician and peer specialist, available either in-person or via phone call in any setting where a crisis is occurring.
Follow-up services are provided after the initial response to support long-term stability, and include engagement, peer support, care collaboration, and linkage to local resources.
Anyone can refer a person to the team, including individuals, families, schools, law enforcement, and community providers.
The definition of “crisis” is determined by the individual seeking support.
This expansion reflects People USA’s mission to redefine crisis care and make responsive, strengths-based support available to all who need it. People USA operates across multiple counties including Westchester, Putnam, Orange, Ulster, Dutchess, Columbia, Warren, and Washington, delivering programs in crisis, recovery, and wellness.
