The Putnam County Legislature’s Personnel Committee unanimously approved the appointment of Marlene Barrett as director of the Office for Senior Resources, during its Feb. 13 meeting.
Barret has been with the department for 13 years, starting off as a caseworker before being appointed deputy director in April 2023.
“Since I started in this department, I’ve planned on ending in this department,” she said. “I know the impact this department makes on the community – not only professionally but personally.”
Legislator Amy Sayegh, R-Mahopac Falls, who was involved in the interview process for this position, called Barrett an “amazing candidate.”
“It makes me proud to have somebody come through the ranks in Putnam County through our department, and to want to continue in a leadership position that I think you’re well qualified for,” she told Barrett at the Personnel Committee meeting. “Your enthusiasm, your knowledge, and your compassion are a huge asset to our seniors.”
Barrett’s approval is pending a vote by the full Legislature.
