Overnight Traffic on Pugsley Lane Moving Forward

The Southeast Planning Board recently voted to amend the statement of findings from the 2021 environmental impact statement for the Lincoln Logistics development on Pugsley Hill Road, to support removal of the condition that trucks cannot operate overnight, citing that review of traffic and noise show there will not be an adverse impact.

“If the board approves the amended finding statement tonight, then they will also vote on referring this to the town board for an amendment to the special permit,” explained Town Planner Ashley Ley at the Aug. 24 Southeast Planning Board meeting.

She said the application is asking for the condition that restricts truck deliveries overnight to be removed, with the applicant claiming a noise wall will bring the noise down to an imperceptible amount.

The approval to amend the findings was approved 4-3, with Trustees James King, Lynne Eckardt, and David Rush voting “no.”

The motion to send the matter to the town board for approval passed by a vote of 5-2, with Eckardt and Rush voting “no.”

The Southeast Town Board will now be required to hold its own public hearing on whether to amend the findings statement and grant the special permit for overnight traffic. If approved, the matter will then go back to the planning board for amended site plan approval.
