’Pac Heads into Quarterfinals
PEEKSKILL – This is exactly how you want to end the regular season and roll into the playoffs… Peaking.
The Mahopac High School football team is playing some of its best ball of the season after a 28-6 win over Peekskill to wrap up the regular season.
The Wolf Pac was scheduled to play Clarkstown South in the quarterfinals of the Section 1, Class A tournament Oct. 30.
Mahopac dominated Peekskill with a devastating running attack and a stout defense. The offense scored all four touchdowns on the ground, while the defense allowed the Red Devils to score only a 4-yard touchdown in the third quarter.
Bronxville 43, Haldane 7 – Bronxville scored 30 points in the opening quarter, establishing a commanding lead. Haldane avoided a shutout when Alex Gaugler scored on a nine-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
“We have to continue working on the fundamentals and executing at a higher level,” said Blue Devils Coach Ryan McConville. “We didn’t execute the way we needed to, and credit to Bronxville for coming out and taking control early in the game. Our guys will get back to work in the weight room and continue to get bigger, faster, and stronger. We’ll keep working to improve and finish the season the right way.”
Westlake 42, Putnam Valley 0 – Westlake finished the regular season undefeated.
Somers 41, Carmel 7 – Reasonable observation: Somers is good. Like, real good. Tristan Iglesias accounted for 259 yards of total offense for the winners while teammate Jayden Abruzese rushed for 145 yards on just seven carries.
