Public Hearing Related to Garden St. Development

A public hearing regarding proposed zoning changes that are presumably related to development of the old Garden Street school property in the Village of Brewster is scheduled June 10 at 7 p.m., at Village Hall.
Proposed Local Law No. 5 of 2026 pertains to updating Chapter 263 of the village zoning code, and is available for viewing at www.brewstervillage-ny.gov and at Village Hall.
The local law seeks to amend the section regarding “mixed-use districts” to say that no building shall exceed five stories or 60 feet, and that residential single-family density shall not exceed one dwelling unit per lot. The density for multifamily or town home dwelling units shall not exceed 40 bedrooms per acre.
The changes would allow the addition of two more floors to the existing Garden Street building, which is proposed to be developed into housing.
