The seventh annual Putnam Pride Celebration is scheduled Saturday, June 13.
This rain-or-shine event will kick off at 1 p.m., at the Historic Courthouse in downtown Carmel, with a rally and march. A photo booth, 40-plus local vendors, face painting, entertainment, food trucks, ice cream, and a kids’ tent will round out the day at Veterans Memorial Park.
“I can’t believe this is happening in my town,” said one Putnam Pride attendee last year. “We needed this.”
At 1 p.m., hosts Angel Elektra and Shay D’Pines – in conjunction with Kingston’s Unicorn Brass Band – will lead marchers from the Historic Courthouse down Gleneida Avenue to the rainbow sign at Gilead Presbyterian Church. After returning to the courthouse, attendees will hear from local clergy and speakers before heading to Veterans Memorial Park on Gypsy Trail Road for a celebration.
Guests can also go straight to the park, where there will be vendors and music beginning at 1 p.m.
A 2 p.m. flag raising ceremony will officially kick off festivities at the park, where there will be more entertainment and speakers than ever before. Elektra and D’Pines, along with DJ Brittany, will welcome Stephanie “Starr” Bermudez, Sasha Renee, I.Den.t.T, and others to the stage this year.
The always popular 4 p.m. open mic event will provide a chance for attendees to share their talents.
