Don’t be surprised if one of the Putnam County high schools advances deep into the Section 1 playoffs, with way the teams are closing the regular season.
It was an impressive display by county schools last week.

Maggie Caputo tallied three hits, including the 150th of her career. Earlier, PV shut out Yonkers Montessori 5-0 as Mulqueen was again the winning hurler and Kaleigh Rund had a pair of doubles among her three hits.
Haldane 5, Hastings 4 – Eighth-grader Mackenzie Tobin hit the first home run of her career to back the winning pitching of Allegra Clementson.
Mahopac 13, Edgemont 1 – Isabella Genovese and Giuliana Madera both hit home runs as teammate Reilly Collins was the winning pitcher. It wasn’t the only victorious rout for the Wolf Pack, as Camdyn Wilson got her 100th career hit in the win among her three hits and Nina Salvia homered in a 14-1 win over Pawling.
Carmel 9, Nanuet 4 – Olivia Frick struck out eight to earn the win on the hill. Teammate Madi Hurlie registered three RBI and Morgan Hansen had three hits.
