Road Rage Incident Leads to Weapon Charges

A Southeast man is facing felony weapon charges following an alleged road rage incident in which he brandished a gun.
According to Putnam County Sheriff Brian Hess, at about 8:15 p.m. June 20, deputies responded to a reported menacing with a firearm following a road rage incident in Southeast.
The complainant reported that during a road rage incident on Peach Lake Road (Route 121), a male operating a black flatbed pickup truck stopped his vehicle, exited, and displayed a handgun. The victim was able to drive away and contact 911, while the suspect fled the area.
While en route to the call, a responding deputy located a vehicle matching the description provided by the complainant and conducted a traffic stop. Additional deputies responded to the scene and took the driver into custody without incident.
Brandon Tompkins, 41, was arrested after deputies recovered a loaded Glock .45 caliber handgun from inside the vehicle. He was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon (loaded firearm), a felony; and second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor.
Tompkins was arraigned in Southeast Town Court where bail was set at $500 cash or $1,000 bond.
