The Putnam County Business Council recently announced the launch of The Putnam County Business Community Speaks, a multi-platform campaign designed to capture the voice of local business owners and bring their priorities directly to elected officials at the county, state, and federal levels.

At the heart of the campaign is the Putnam County Legislative Round Table, an annual forum that convenes business owners and elected officials for an open dialogue about the business climate and economic development in Putnam County. This year, the council is expanding the reach of the event through a coordinated outreach effort that includes a podcast series, blog content, social media, email communications, and a partnership with the Putnam County Press & Times.

“As an independent, non-government-funded business advocacy organization, we believe it’s time to get back to our basics – and that means putting a laser focus on fostering the business climate and economic development of Putnam County,” said founding Chairwoman Jennifer Maher. “This campaign is about giving every business owner in Putnam County a real seat at the table and making sure their voice is what drives the conversation with our elected officials.”

“The relationship between the business community and our elected officials has never been more important,” added Nat Prentice, founding vice president of government relations. “This report gives legislators something concrete – real data, real priorities, straight from the people who are running businesses and creating jobs in Putnam County every single day.”

The campaign kicks off with the debut podcast episode of “The Putnam County Business Community Speaks” series, featuring Maher, Prentice, and Vice Chairman Nick D’Andrea discussing the history behind the Putnam County Business Council, the vision driving this campaign, and what they hope the business community and elected officials will take away from the Legislative Round Table.

“Putnam County has an incredibly resilient and diverse business community,” said D’Andrea. “What we’re doing with this campaign is making sure that the community has a unified voice – one that elected officials at every level can hear loud and clear when it matters most.”

Business owners throughout the county are encouraged to complete the Legislative Round Table Survey, which covers topics including workforce availability, property taxes, infrastructure, energy costs, permitting delays, and economic development. Responses will directly shape the agenda for the upcoming round table.

The survey, podcast episodes, and additional campaign resources are available at putnamcountybusinesscouncil.com.

The Putnam County Business Council is partnering with Holly Crocco of the Putnam County Press & Times and other regional organizations to amplify the campaign and ensure broad participation from businesses across all industries and communities in Putnam.
