Weather Throws Summer Sports for a Loop

You know what they say about athletics – the weather is always the great unknown.

That certainly has been tested so far this summer.

“You can’t play tennis, you can’t play golf, because you never know what’s going to happen,” said Garrison resident Camilla Byrnes. “Even my poor kids never know when they’re going to have a practice or a game interrupted.”

High school practices and camps have been outright canceled because of the weather.

“Crazy,” said Brewster’s Mike DeMeglio.

Crazy indeed.

The weather has gone from tolerable one day to severe storms the next. That’s not to mention the oppressive heat in some places. The humidity has made it feel more like Florida at times than Putnam County.

“And don’t forget the flooding,” added James Nguyen.
