Hay to Hang Up His Hat; Won’t Seek Re-Election as Southeast Supervisor

Southeast Town Supervisor Tony Hay

Southeast Town Supervisor Tony Hay has announced that he will not be seeking a fourth term at the end of this year.

With a short election cycle to get on the ballot for November’s election, he said it was only fair to make his intentions known early, so others that may have an interest in serving similarly can make his or her intentions known to the public.

At the end of this year, Hay will have served 12 years as town supervisor, having previously served as a member of the Putnam County Legislature, representing District 6 for 19 years.

Throughout all these years, Hay said he has given it his all – and promises to continue to do so until midnight Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023.

Hay moved to Brewster in 1957 at the age of 10, from Goldens Bridge, and said he has seen many changes over the decades.

“It was a good town then, is a good town now, and will only get better with time,” he said.

Hay said he looks forward to continue working with everyone this year as he closes out his career, and thanked everyone that has supported him over the years, and the residents for having allowed him to serve.
