LATHAM – Apparently, this isn’t over. A statewide proposal to separate private and Catholic schools from competing for sectional and state championships in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association was rejected. The proposal was rejected by sections 5, 6, 7, 10, and 11, which represented a simple majority of the state’s 11 high school athletic sections. But they did agree to study the situation for the next two years. The status quo will remain until May 2028
